Product description
A product of natural origin
Ketapang leaves (sea almond) It is one of the most natural ways to improve conditions in the aquarium. They release into the water tannins and humic compounds, which have antibacterial and antifungal properties and support the recovery of fish and prawns.
Their presence helps to reduce stress, improves fitness and supports the natural behaviour of the tank’s inhabitants. They work particularly well in aquariums with prawns and fish that prefer soft, slightly acidic water, such as betta fish or cichlids.
What’s more, the leaves help to recreate the atmosphere so-called ‘black waters’ – they gently darken the water and give it a more natural appearance, similar to that found in the natural environment.
Leaves from our own crops
The leaves come from our own ketapang trees and are not imported. We do not use any sprays or chemical additives – they grow in natural soil and are exposed to sunlight.
As a result, the leaves develop according to their natural cycle, which promotes the formation and accumulation of active substances. Solar radiation supports the plants’ metabolic processes, meaning that the leaves are richer in tannins and organic compounds than those grown exclusively under artificial lighting.
They are only harvested once they have fallen naturally from the tree, which means they have reached full ripeness. They are neither picked nor pressed, which is why they retain their natural, often curled shape – a characteristic rather than a flaw.
Purpose
Ketapang leaves are intended for use in freshwater aquariums, particularly in blackwater, shrimp tanks, to improve living conditions for fish and shrimps and support their health.
Due to their properties, they prove effective as a completely natural antibacterial and antifungal supplement.

Tip1:
Regular use of ketapang leaves It offers a range of benefits for the whole aquarium. Depending on the effect you wish to achieve, Usually, 1 XL-sized leaf is used for approximately 20–40 litres of water.
For smaller sizes, maintain the proportions: for size M, use approximately 2 leaves, whilst for size S, use approximately 3 leaves.
The leaves can be rinsed beforehand, although this is not essential. When added to the aquarium, they may initially float on the surface, but once they have absorbed water, they will sink to the bottom.
As they decompose, the leaves become a natural food source for microorganisms and biofilm, which is particularly valuable for shrimp. It is on their surface that young individuals often feed.
A worn-out leaf can be recognised by the fact that only a thin mesh-like structure remains. At this point, it is advisable to remove it and replace it with a new one to ensure continuous operation.
If you want to achieve a more intense ‘black water’ effect, you can combine the leaves with other natural materials, such as alder cones or roots, to create an environment that is even closer to nature.
