Product description
Characteristic structure and form growth
Sagittaria subulata, also known as winged arrowhead, is an underwater marsh plant from the family Alismataceae (Alismataceae). It forms compact rosettes of leaves, from which long, flexible blades of an equilateral or ribbon-like shape grow. It spreads by means of thin runners, gradually forming compact clumps and dense lawn-like substrates.
Delicate, ribbon-like leaves
Individual leaves reach from 5 to even 60 cm in length and up to 6 mm in width, although in aquarium conditions they usually grow to about 8–10 cm. They have a slender, slightly ascending habit and a vivid green colour. Their tips are gently rounded, and the flexible structure of the leaves allows them to move freely in the water current.
Structure and balance in plant compositions
Sagittaria subulata forms regular rosettes and is characterised by a linear, upright habit. It contrasts well with plants with wider or strongly divided leaves, introducing clear, simple accents to the composition. Growth through offshoots causes the lower parts of the aquarium to become denser, and the uniform colouring of the leaves gives the arrangement consistency.
Purpose
Sagittaria subulata It works perfectly in freshwater aquariums as a foreground or midground plant. Thanks to the compact form of its leaves, it is suitable for both small tanks and larger arrangements, where it can form dense, spreading clumps. Its stable growth and ability to produce numerous runners make it ideal for thickening the substrate zone and filling empty spaces between other plants.

Cultivation Conditions
To ensure optimal plant growth, adequate lighting and fertilization of both the water column and the substrate are necessary.
❗ The nature of light has a key influence on the appearance of plants! ❗
- In intense light and nutrient-rich soil, the plant It grows fairly quickly, producing leaves up to 0.6 cm wide. The leaves become longer and take on a greenish hue.
- In poor light and with a lack of nutrients it grows more slowly, entering a state of dormancy. The plant turns completely yellow, and the size and length of the leaves are significantly reduced.
To further improve the condition of the plant, we recommend adding additional CO₂ to the water column. Its use significantly improves growth rate and density.
Lighting Requirements
General light requirements: Low / Medium
Recommended lighting power according to the technology used:
~ 0.5 W/L (T8/T5 fluorescent lamps)
0.4 W/L – 0.2 W/L (LED light)
~ 25 Lm/L (LED diodes)
Water Requirements
Water reaction: pH 6 – 7.5
Water hardness (GH) : 8 – 18
Temperature: 18 – 28 C
Planting
It is recommended to plant the plants individually, 3–4 cm apart. This method of planting allows the plant to spread evenly, creating a uniform, green surface without gaps over time.
Left to its own devices, it will spread spontaneously throughout the aquarium via underground runners that grow from the parent plant.
To this end, it should be repotted regularly to maintain its beautiful appearance and prevent excessive and uncontrolled growth throughout the aquarium.
What you should know before buying
The plants offered in our shop come exclusively from our own breeding aquariums, and not from mass greenhouse plantations.
This allows them to acclimatise to their new tank much more quickly and easily, as they have been developing in an aquatic environment from the outset, rather than in terrestrial conditions.
Plants from farms differ in appearance and often require a long time to adapt to the aquarium. to adapt to the aquarium, while when our specimens almost from a18> once accepted themselves.
When you buy from us, you can be sure that you are getting healthy seedlings that will continue to grow without any problems.
Quantity sold: Single seedling, 2–7 cm in size.
The portion sold is shipped with a developed root system.
