Product description
Eleocharis Parvula Mini – Appearance and habit
Also known as dwarf pondweed, this species belongs to the Cyperaceae family.
One of the shortest lawn plants, valued for its ability to form dense, green carpets that give the aquarium a natural, orderly appearance.
Its thin, dark green blades resemble miniature grass in a garden and, with the right light, gently sway in the water current, introducing a sense of lightness and movement to the arrangement.
Purpose
This plant is ideal as a foreground plant in any type of tank, creating an underwater carpet.
It is very often used in aquariums of the nature and iwagumi.
Characteristics
Origin: America North
Difficulty level: Medium
Growth Rate: Moderate
Colour: Dark green
Planting Plan: Front of the Aquarium
Minimum and Maximum Sizes: 0.5 cm – 7 cm
Cultivation Conditions
To ensure optimal plant growth, adequate lighting and fertilization of both the water column and the substrate are necessary.
❗ The nature of light has a key influence on the appearance of plants! ❗
- In intense light and nutrient-rich soil, the plant grows quite quickly, producing thick, dark green and long “needles”
- In poor light and with a lack of nutrients it grows more slowly, entering a state of dormancy. The tips of the needles may turn yellow.
For proper plant growth, additional CO₂ needs to be added to the water column. Its use significantly improves growth rate and density.
Lighting Requirements
General light requirements: Low / Medium
Recommended lighting power according to the technology used:
~ 0.5 W/L (T8/T5 fluorescent lamps)
0.4 W/L – 0.2 W/L (LED light)
~ 25 Lm/L (LED diodes)
Water Requirements
Water reaction: pH 5.5 – 7
Water hardness (GH) : 1 – 10
Temperature: 19 – 28 C
Planting
It is recommended to plant the plants in small groups of several “clumps” 1-2 cm apart, in a checkerboard pattern at the front of the aquarium. This planting method allows the plant to spread evenly, creating a uniform, green surface without gaps over time.
Left to its own devices, it will spread spontaneously throughout the aquarium via underground runners that grow from the parent plant.
It should be pruned regularly to maintain its beautiful appearance and prevent excessive growth.
What you should know before buying
The plants offered in our shop come exclusively from our own breeding aquariums, and not from mass greenhouse plantations.
This allows them to acclimatise to their new tank much more quickly and easily, as they have been developing in an aquatic environment from the outset, rather than in terrestrial conditions.
Plants from farms differ in appearance and often require a long time to adapt to the aquarium. to adapt to the aquarium, while when our specimens almost from a18> once accepted themselves.
