Product description
Targeted action against flagellates
Zoolek Protosol is a specialist treatment designed to combat infections caused by flagellates – one of the most common and insidious internal parasites in aquarium fish.
It is particularly effective in treating so-called hole-in-the-head disease, which often affects cichlid species such as angelfish and scalars.
Thanks to its content of a derivative of metronidazole The product acts directly on protozoa, eliminating the cause of the disease rather than merely its symptoms. At the same time, it inhibits the growth of anaerobic bacteria, which are often responsible for the deterioration of the fish’s condition during an infection.
Support for weakened fish
Protosol It has been formulated to be effective whilst remaining as safe as possible for fish. It does not penetrate their tissues, which reduces the risk of side effects and allows it to be used under controlled conditions without placing an excessive burden on the fish’s system.
The product also supports fish weakened by disease, helping to reduce the risk of secondary bacterial infections. Furthermore, it is safe for beneficial filter bacteria, meaning it does not disrupt the biological balance of the aquarium.
Purpose
Zoolek Protosol is intended for use in freshwater aquariums during the treatment of infections caused by flagellates, including Ichthyophthirius. It is particularly recommended for cichlid species, such as angelfish and scalars, in which parasitic diseases often take a severe course.
The product can be used both during an active infection and as a preventative measure to reduce the risk of recurrence. It is suitable for use in aquariums with an established biological filtration system, as it does not adversely affect the filter microorganisms.

Tip1:
How do you carry out an effective treatment using Zoolek Protosol?
Dosage:
Use 10 ml of the product per 100 litres of water as a preventive measure.
Use 10 ml of the product per 50 litres of water as the standard dose.
In the case of infections caused by spirochetes it is crucial to act quickly – diseases such as fire blight develop gradually, but their effects can be very serious, especially in more demanding species.
Remove the activated carbon and peat from the filter for the duration of the treatment, as these can reduce the product’s effectiveness. It is also advisable to increase aeration – this improves the product’s dispersion in the water and helps the fish during treatment.
Seven days after the first dose, the treatment may be repeated as required.
Once the treatment is complete, it is advisable to carry out a partial water change and support the fish with vitamin supplements, such as Seachem Fresh Trace, which will speed up their recovery and help them return to good health.
Remember that treatment addresses the symptoms of the problem, but not always its cause. Diseases often arise as a result of stress, fluctuations in water parameters, overcrowding or mistakes during acclimatisation. Therefore, in addition to the treatment itself, ensure that conditions in the aquarium remain stable – this is the most effective way to prevent relapses and keep your fish in good health for longer.
